The government has announced that it will be setting aside no less than £440 million to support the nation's most innovative companies. The funding will be delivered in cooperation with the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and this represents a record investment. 

It is hoped that the move will drive wider economic growth, in addition to supporting the firms that are undertaking research and innovation projects. 

Indeed, the TSB noted that it will also continue to invest in the national network of catapult schemes. New product development is supported by these initiatives more directly.
